ASID Board of Directors Updates

ASID Board of Directors Meeting
July 24 – 25, 2008
Calgary, AB

Governance

National Nominating Committee Changes
The board reviewed and approved two language changes recommended by the National Nominating Committee to the Society’s Bylaws concerning the nominating qualifications for the ASID Board of Directors. The change increases the time for a candidate to have served as a chapter president or as a member of a committee, council or task force for at least two years within the past five years to ten years. The approved change increases the pool of candidates eligible to be selected for the ASID Board of Directors.

Membership Reinstatement Policy
A membership reinstatement policy was introduced regarding both voluntary resignation and lapsed membership. To summarize the policy, ASID members who voluntarily resign their membership forfeit any grandfathering privileges and must reapply under the current membership requirements should they desire to become active members of ASID in the future. The board approved the new policy and it is now in effect. If you have any questions on the new policy, please contact customer service at (202) 546-3480 or customerservice@asid.org.

FY 2009 – 2011 Strategic Plan

The board reviewed the proposed FY 2009 – 2011 ASID Strategic Plan, focusing on the three main goals of evolving the brand, building bridges and advocating for the right to practice. Following discussion, the board approved the plan. The strategic plan summary will be available on www.asid.org at the beginning of the FY 2009, October 1, 2008.
