The Joel Polsky Academic Achievement Award is given annually by the ASID Educational Foundation to recognize an outstanding undergraduate or graduate student’s interior design research or thesis project. Research papers or doctoral and master’s theses should address such interior design topics as educational research, behavioral science, business practice, design process, theory or other technical subjects. Entries will be judged on content, breadth of material, comprehensive coverage of topic, innovative subject matter, bibliography and references.

Irene Winifred Eno Grant is to provide financial assistance to individuals or groups engaged in the creation of an educational program(s) or an interior design research project dedicated to health, safety and welfare. The grant will be awarded on the basis of the project description, break down of potential use of funds and the marketing plan for the use/distribution of the end product of the project. The grant is open to students, educators, interior design practitioners, institutions or other interior design related group.

The Joel Polsky Prize is given annually by the ASID Educational Foundation to recognize outstanding academic contributions to the discipline of interior design through literature or visual communication. Entries should address the needs of the public, designers and students on such topics as educational research, behavioral science, business practice, design process, theory or other technical subjects. Material will be judged on innovative subject matter, comprehensive coverage of topic, organization, graphic presentation, bibliography and references.

Legacy Scholarship for Undergraduates
Award: $4,000

The Legacy Scholarship is open to all students in their junior or senior year of undergraduate study enrolled in at least a three-year program of interior design. The award will be given to a creative and outstanding student as demonstrated through their portfolio. Portfolio components may be as few as eight, but are not to exceed 12. These "Best of Work" components may be diverse, including a lighting plan, furniture or cabinetry detail, or lifecycle cost analysis presentation, as well as the more usual furniture layout, and perspective rendering. Any one of these items equals one component. Any combination of these components may be used but under no circumstance may the total exceed 12 components. All applicants must also submit an official university transcript, a letter of recommendation and a personal statement on career goals. Judges will evaluate academic accomplishments, presentation skills, design and planning competency and conceptual creativity.

The ASID Foundation Legacy Scholarship is open to students who are enrolled in or have been accepted for admission to a graduate-level interior design program at a degree-granting institution. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic/creative accomplishment, as demonstrated by school transcripts, a letter of recommendation and an essay explaining one’s inspiration to pursue a professional career in interior design, professional goals, or special areas of interest.

David Barrett Memorial Scholarship
Award: $12,000
Deadline: The next award will be offered in 2014.
The David Barrett Memorial Scholarship is given biennially by the ASID Foundation to recognize an outstanding undergraduate or graduate student’s work which demonstrates a continuing interest and ability in utilizing classical designs and traditional materials, inclusive of furniture and fabrics. All applicants must submit a personal statement, letter of recommendation, prepared design portfolio featuring 8 -12 design components with a written description detailing how classical designs and traditional materials are used in each design component.
