State Sales Tax Issues Troubling Designers at Furniture Market
News & Record | May 29, 2008 - Over the past few years, the Department of Revenue [in North Carolina] has decided that if someone buys a piece of furniture or even just a knickknack from a designer, all the services that designer provided to that customer should be taxed at the same rate. That change threatens one of the fastest growing aspects of the furniture market in High Point, which hosts a semiannual trade show as well as a growing year-round trade. (more)
